Periodically
groups are formed to help people going through a difficult time in
life. We presently have or support Alzheimer's Support, Widows/Widowers Support, Divorce Recovery Groups, Grief
Programs, Depression Groups, Diabetes Support, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Contact the
Church Office at 734-676-1565 for more information.
Alzheimer's Caregivers Support
Support groups provide an opportunity for family members, friends,
caregivers, and other interested individuals to meet regularly for
mutual emotional support and to exchange coping skills with one another
in matters relating to Alzheimer's disease. Please join us at St. Paul Lutheran Church for an Alzheimer's
Association Caregiver Support Group. The group meets the first Thursday
of the month at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Jack Scola at 734-676-1565.
Widow/Widower's Support
The Grief Seminar has birthed
a new support group open to anyone that is dealing with the loss of a spouse.
It will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Staff Lounge.
For more information call Jack Scola at 734-676-1565 or email jscola@splconline.com.
From Grief to New Hope
Dealing
with the death of a loved one and learning how to go on can be
difficult and overwhelming. Because St. Paul Lutheran Church believes
in the value of grief support, we will be sponsoring a workshop
entitled From Grief to New Hope during the months of September and October. The workshop runs for eight consecutive Tuesday evenings
from 7-9 p.m. Each session begins with an informative talk about a
particular aspect of the grief process followed by an opportunity to
participate in a small group to process the information. More information and registration form.
Diabetes Support Group
Recently several congregants
have shared that they have been diagnosed with this disease. We are beginning a
new Diabetic Support Group on August
16. It will meet the third Monday of each month. I will be facilitating the
group. Monthly topics will be; getting used to being a diabetic, side effects
of the meds, the right and wrong foods, vitamins and supplements, walking &
other exercise, diabetes & other illnesses, etc. I believe the Holy Spirit
has and will continue to lead this ministry to support those in our church and
community.
